Hold 2008 Shield Awards
The Ramsey Knights of Columbus, Rev. Patrick F. Pindar Council 3962, recently held the 31st Annual Shield Awards to honor Ramsey’s outstanding emergency personnel. Recipients included: Captain Randy Sterbinsky, Ramsey Fire Department; EMT Bruce Greenwood, Ramsey Ambulance Corps; Senior Planner Ralph Venturini, Ramsey Office of Emergency Management; Captain Richard Muser, Ramsey Rescue Squad; and Sgt. John McIntyre, Ramsey Police Department.
“We once again honor five individuals, who are crucial in the safety and protection of Ramsey’s residents,” stated Grand Knight Joseph Reap, “Ramsey is very fortunate to have five highly-regarded public safety agencies.”
Dignitaries, who were on-hand to personally congratulate the recipients and issue proclamations, resolutions and commendations, included: State Senator Gerald Cardinale, Assemblypersons Charlotte Vandervalk and John Rooney, Sheriff Leo McGuire, Freeholder Julie O’Brien, a Ramsey resident, Mayor Chris Botta and Council Members Andrew Siemsen, Deirdre Dillon, and Vanessa Jachzel.
Msgr. Lawrence Cull, Pastor of St. Paul Church and the Knights’ Chaplain, delivered the invocation. Michael Adams, who started the Shield Awards in 1977, served as Chairman and Master-of-Ceremonie s and Michael Burns served as Co-Chairman.
